Process
From billet to blade: inside the DBH forging line
2026-10-30

A walkthrough of the forging, hardening and finishing stages behind every DBH kitchen knife.
Steel arrives as flat billets that are cut, heated and forged to profile. After forging, blades are normalized and hardened in a controlled furnace, then tempered to a working hardness that holds an edge without becoming brittle. The final stage is hand finishing: grinding the bevel, easing the spine and checking the edge under magnification before the knife is packed for export.
